He's Still Working On Me
I used to sing a song to my daughter when she was a baby, called, "He's Still Working on Me." The song, written by Joel Hemphill, teaches the truth of Philippians 1:6: "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."
God began a work in us, and God is the one who will complete it, which means that He is still working on me. And this is exactly what the first verse of the song champions:
"He's still working on me
To make me what I need to be
It took him just a week to make the moon and stars
The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars
How loving and patient He must be
'Cause He's still workin' on me."
This image of God working in us is woven throughout Scripture. In 1 Peter 2:5, we are Living Stones that the Lord is shaping and growing and building up into a Spiritual House.
We're left with a picture of the Lord, with chisel in hand, cutting away the pieces that don't belong, fashioning us according to his plan.
In Ephesians 2:10, we are described as God's workmanship, his handiwork, his masterpiece, as though the Lord is a painter and we are the canvas where he creates a work of art for his glory.

He's the skilled craftsman, the creative artist, chiseling, cutting, shaping, painting, and sanctifying us and our families until his work is complete.
